I finally decided it was time to decorate for Easter. I know I am pretty late on this one, but better late than never. I put up our egg tree from last year, and thought it would be nice to have a garland for the fireplace too. Unfortunately I did not have enough eggs to make it as long as I wanted because two little girls thought they needed some eggs to play with. Oh well they had fun making it and it turned out pretty so that is what matters, and now they have some eggs to play with too.
My little one is only two and this project was a little beyond her abilities. She could not get the string in the holes on the eggs, but she had fun trying and really thought she was helping so we let her help a lot. It is a great project for hand eye coordination, but for younger children the holes are just too small for them. Although if you are like me and have a younger child too, let them try and help. It makes them so happy and it is good practice for them too.
Supplies
Plastic Eggs
Fishing Line (or string of choice)
Directions
String your eggs by inserting the string into the egg from the bottom
Then out the top. Once string is going through the egg, close the egg.
Repeat till your garland is as long as you want.
To finish each end pull string through both holes in the bottom or top (depending which end you are working with). And then tie it off by going under the loop to make it extra secure.
Now go find a place to hand your Easter Egg Garland!
Cute! I was planning on trying this at home too, so I'm glad to know it turned out so well!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! I hope you are going to post yours too! And hopefully your kids wont steal all your eggs!
Deleteha ha! Things have a way of growing legs and hiding all over our house, so I'm sure some eggs will disappear. Thanks for sharing this cute garland at A New Creation link party!
DeleteStopping by from the Blog Hop. This is such a cute idea and you're right - kids get so happy when you let them help even if they can't really do it.
