Here is the second part to my daughters costume, the No Sew Owl Dress. Don't forget to check out the No Sew Owl Wings and the Owl Mask.
I totally got the idea of the dress from Alpha Mom and her post for Last Minute Kids Owl Costume. The only thing I did different is I did now sew ours, I used fabric glue and I used a women's fitted t-shirt. I only used the t-shirt because I wanted the dress part to be longer, and it goes down to her knees which I am happy with. Then I also added real dyed feathers to the dress also.
Because I used a women's t-shirt, the short sleeves are visible. Since I will be putting my daughter in a turtle neck and tights it is not really noticeable. However if it is warmer where you are then you could always cut the sleeves off and the seam will just be hidden by the fabric feathers.
Supplies
Black T-shirt (we used a Fitted women's size Medium)
2 Yards of Blue Fabric (keep in mind I used this for the Wings too)
2 Yards of Pink Fabric (keep in mind I used this for the Wings too)
2 Yards of Green Fabric (keep in mind I used this for the Wings too)
1pkg of Blue, Pink, and Green Feathers (optional)
Fabric Glue (I used Beacon Fabri-Tac)
Feather Template
Velcro
Directions
Print out your Feather Template and trace it on your fabric then cut out feathers in each color
Glue your fabric feathers onto the shirt starting from the bottom.
The faberic feathers can just fold over the side of the shirt and be glued down on the other side.
Glue your real colored feathers between your fabric feathers.
If you make the No Sew Wings also just attache them to the dress with the Velcro, just glue the Velcro to the back of the wings and the top of the shirt.
Your kid will be the cutest Owl Around!
