For Easter we went to visit my family in Nebraska, it has been a while since we were there and the girls were super excited to spend some time with grandma and their cousins. But you know I had to think of something fun to do with the kids while we were there and I have been wanting to make balloon rockets with the girls for a while now so I thought this was a great opportunity.
I got everything all set up then called the kids in and showed them what to do. They caught on pretty quick and they ended up having several balloon races. Then my oldest and her cousin decided that they would pick teams and everyone had to have a race. So all the adults got involved. When I first thought of doing this I thought it would be a fun kids game, but I have to say the whole family seemed to really enjoy it. From my 2yr old to my mom and all the family in between.
The game is pretty easy to set up and you don't really need much as far as supplies. The biggest issue is finding the right place to set it up. I ended up just taping our string from the couch to the TV stand. Anyplace you have a bit of room will work.
Supplies
Balloons
Straws
Fishing line (or other fine sting)
Tape
Directions
Find a place to set up and tape your fishing line to one end
Feed the line through your straw then tape the other end of line to something
Blow up a balloon (but don't tie it off) then tape it to the straw (NOTE: you really only need one piece of tape, I got a bit carried away with the first try)
Count to three then let go!
To set up again just blow up balloon and tape to straw again.
Yep even the adults had a blast!
It is fun for the whole family!
Even the little ones can have fun with this one, though they might need some help.
