We went Apple picking yesterday. So you know that means you are going to be getting a LOT of apple recipes for a while right?
I grew up in Miami Florida where we did not really have seasons, and so I really get a kick out of all the seasonal stuff that we can do here in the Midwest. One of my favorites is the apple picking. It is such a great family activity and well let’s face it apples are YUMMY! Here are a couple pictures of our fun time getting all our apples, if you get the chance I highly recommend planning this as one of your next family outings!
Ingredients
Apples – We used about 13 but our apples were small
2 Cinnamon Sticks
½ tsp Ground Nutmeg
½ tsp Ground Cloves
1 Cup Apple Cider
Directions
Peel, core, and slice your apples then put them in the crockpot
Add all other ingredients to the crock pot and set on low for about 8 to 9 hours.
Store and eat your yummy apple butter (you could just lick it off the toast as my little one did!). We filled 2 half pint jars with this recipe.
Thanks for the idea! We just got a BIG harvest of LITTLE apples and I'm not quite sure what to do with all of them!
ReplyDeleteOh you gotta try this recipe, it really is super yummy and so easy! I am actually thinking of making another batch.

DeleteI know for a fact this recipe is yummy. A few days ago I made some myself..my seasonings were a little different and I added a splash of cider... But I have a 3 year old and 2 year old and they did the same way to their toast!

ReplyDeleteThere are apple trees everywhere here in Germany. We are going for a walk tomorrow to pick a few. We made apple crisp earlier this week and the kids want to make applesauce next. We usually cook it on the stove. I didn't know you could do it in the crock pot too, but it makes sense. It looks like yours turned out good.
ReplyDeleteI love apple butter! What an easy recipe...never thought to use the crockpot.
