Pinecone Bird Feeder

We had some left over pinecones from our pinecone turkeys and I wanted to use them up so I thought it would be fun to turn them into pinecone bird feeders.  When I asked my daughter if she wanted to make some bird feeders she was so excited she has been bugging me about it since I mentioned it (note to self, don’t mention anything till you are ready to do it)

This morning after breakfast I set up the table with all our supplies and explained how to make them and my daughter went to town, the only thing I helped with was tying the string onto the pinecones.  She had such a good time making these, the only problem we faced was that she kept wanting to eat the peanut butter.  But I just gave her a spoonful and that solved that problem.

UPDATE: Just found out thanks to a comment from a fan below, that the birds can get hurt with the peanut butter, it can get stuck on the roof of there mouth.  But don't worry you can still make these just use Crisco instead!

Supplies:

Pinecones

Peanut butter - Use Crisco instead (see update above)

Bird Seed

String

Directions:

 Tie a foot to two foot of string to one end of the pinecone.

 Using a butter knife spread the peanut butter over pinecone.

 Roll the peanut butter covered pinecone in birdseed.

 Hang your pinecone bird feeder from a tree and wait for the birds.

Here is a bird eating from our feeder, they sure love them!
