I thought this would be a fun craft to do during the week with my daughter since we could color the pasta ahead of time and have it dried and ready for us. This craft is great because it is another one that the kids can do themselves (well after the coloring of the pasta that is). My daughter helped to shake up the baggies of pasta while we were coloring them, but when it came time to do the pasta jewelry she was able to do it herself. And I don’t know about your kids but mine gets so proud when she does something all by herself (such a big girl).
This is also a super cheap craft. I had everything I needed in the house already so for us and many of you I am sure this will be a free craft that the kids will love.
COLORING YOUR PASTA
Supplies
Rubbing Alcohol
Food Coloring
Pasta
Snack baggies
Directions
Put pasta in snack baggies. Add 1tbs rubbing alcohol and 2 to 3 drops food coloring
Make sure baggies are closed tight and shake them up.
Let the pasta sit in baggies for about 5 to 10 min to get a good color.
Put pasta on baking sheet with paper towel to let dry (be careful where you put them the food color can stain)
MAKING YOUR PASTA JEWLERY
Supplies
Colored pasta
Fishing Line (or any other sturdy string)
Tape
Directions
Cut fishing line the size of your desired jewelry (note: make sure it is big enough to fit over head)
Put a piece of tape on one end of fishing line (this is to keep pasta from falling off)
String pasta on to fishing line in desired pattern
Once you have all your pasta on take tape off and tie both ends in a knot.
Here is my very proud girl with her new pasta necklace. And we have enough pasta left to make a few more, or maybe a bracelet or two to match.
