Homemade Dog Treats

My oldest has been wanting to make some special dog treats for awhile now.  The counselor at her school has a dog named Maddy that comes to the school everyday.  She helps the kids feel comfortable because it is easier for the kids to talk while petting the dog, well everything is better while petting a dog right?

Well my daughter is a HUGE animal lover and she talks about Maddy all the time and wanted to make her a special treat.  I finally got around to asking if it was okay for her to bring Maddy a treat and they said it was.  So since we were snowed in again (yes I know it is Spring, however Kansas does not know this yet) I thought it was the perfect day to make some dog treats for Maddy.

I got this recipe from Marci at Stone Cottage Adventures, she has a few different doggie treat recipes but this one is her Dog Biscuits with Oats recipe.  And I have to say our taste tester (Prada our doggie) really LOVED these cookies.  She could not eat them fast enough, so I am pretty certain that Maddy will enjoy them too.

The girls really had fun making the dog treats too, I think the best part was when my oldest got to mix the dough with her hands.  That was pretty fun, my little one does not like to get her hands dirty so she passed on that part.  Both girls thought it was cute that we made them in the shape of a dog.  Not that Prada really cared what shape they were in she just wanted another cookie.  I guess we will have to make these again!  Thanks Marci for sharing your recipe with us, and Prada and Maddy thank you too!

Supplies
1 1/2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
1 Cup Old Fashioned Oats, dry
1 Cup Peanut Butter
1/2 Cup Powdered Milk
1/2 Cup Broth (Chicken, Beef, or Veggie)
4 Eggs

Directions
Pour your Flour in a bowl
 Add your Oats
 Powdered Milk
Add your Broth
 Then your Peanut Butter
 And finally your Eggs
Stir it up till it is too hard to stir then mix together with your hands!

 Roll the dough out
Then cut out your dog treats with your favorite cookie cutter.
Preheat oven to 350 then bake your homemade dog treats for 20 min.
Now just give them to your doggies!
 I think she likes them
Oh yeah they are good!
Oh look they look just like our Prada!

  6. These are so cute! I have a pup who would love them. We can't use PB because my daughter is allergic. Wonder if it would work with another nut butter or if another is safe for dogs? Thanks for sharing at A New Creation!
