Pyramid Bowling

Here is another great re-purposing craft.   If you use a lot of cans when cooking like I do then this is a great project for you and the kids.  This is also a great project for those rainy days when you need to keep the kids busy for a while.

We painted our cans but truthfully you don’t have to for this game.  My daughter just really loves to paint so we paint everything.  It also keeps her busy for a while so if I need to get things done giving her something to paint can really help.

After our cans were dry and we could start bowling we had so much fun.  My oldest played with this for over an hour.  She even went and got a soft soccer type ball and started kicking it at the cans.  So maybe this should be Pyramid Soccer too.  At one point she made two stacks one for bowling and one for soccer she would throw one ball then kick the other.  She really started to use her imagination with this one.

What are these for?

We tried to get my youngest to play and would give her the ball and try and show her how to throw it at the cans, but she was much more interested in playing chase and as soon as she got the ball would take off running in the other direction.  She did finally come and started playing with the cans once my oldest was done knocking them all down.

This is also a great way to get your kids counting.  They need to stack up the cans to play so they need to count four on the bottom, then three, then two, then one for the top.  All for a total of 10 cans.  It’s always great to incorporate some learning into games when you can.

Supplies

10 cans

Paint (can omit)

1 ball

Directions

 Start by painting your cans (if you choose to do this part)

 Once paint is dry stack your cans with four on the bottom, three, two, then one on top.

 Now stand away from the cans (closer for younger kids farther away for older kids) and throw your ball. 

 The goal of the game is to knock down all the cans.  So if you don’t knock them all down just throw the ball again till you do.

Want to keep score?  Then just like bowling one point for each can.
