Indoor Snowball Toss Game

So it is Winter and that means it is cold.  And I'll be honest here, I hate the cold and could really do without Winter (I grew up in the south where there was no Winter).  However I now live in the Midwest and during these long cold winter months we are stuck indoors to entertain ourselves so we don't freeze outside.

And well the kids have been getting even more restless than I have.  So I have been trying to think of fun ways to keep us entertained and having fun.  That is when I thought we could do a snowball toss.  Both girls love our Pyramid Bowling game (yes I saved the cans and we still pay with them!).  So I thought they would really like this fun game.

And to make it even more fun, we got a little crafty and made our cups into snowmen.  Which, both my girls loved to do because coloring is just so awesome.

This was also a fun game that both girls were able to play.  However my little one is sneaky and cheats, but we are pretty laid back around here so allowed it.

Which season is your least favorite?

Supplies

10 Styrofoam cups
Markers
6 Big Pom Poms

Directions for Snowman Cups
Color a cute snowman face on all 10 of your cups. (Note: younger children may just scribble, and that is fine)

Directions for Snowball Toss Game
Line your cups up in a pyramid format

Stand a couple feet back (younger children may stand closer) and toss your snowballs (the pom poms) into the cups.

Be aware of sneaky kids that walk up to cups and place snowballs in without tossing.
Each player gets one point for making a snowball into the cup.  Play as many rounds as the kids want.

Valentines Day Pudding

After making all that White Chocolate Cherry Fudge  that I totally ate most of, and then making those Double Heart Cookies that I ate a ton of.  I decided that I needed to make a Valentines Day dessert that was healthier and less fattening.

So that is when I decided that a Sugar Free Jello/Pudding mix was a great idea!  And the girls had fun helping me with these little treats.  So the kids like them, mommy likes them and I may not end up looking like a giant balloon if I eat them all (I know I seriously need to work on my self control).

But seriously, these are super yummy and they came out so cute I wish we had company coming over so we could share them.  I ended up doubling up the jello and pudding mixes so we got 10 total treats.  My little one could not wait to dig into one, I think the sprinkles sent her over the edge.  Even my hubby really liked these and was happy to eat one up as soon as they were done.  And he was happy that they were lighter since he is watching his calories too.

So if you are watching your waist line there is no need to skimp on Valentines day treats, these are so cute and yummy everyone will love them!

Supplies
Cherry Jello (we used 2 packs & got 10 Servings)
Cheesecake Pudding (we used 2 packs & got 10 Servings)
Milk for pudding (2 cups per package)
Red Food Coloring
1 Tub Cool Whip
Sprinkles

Directions
Make your Jello according to directions
Pour Jello into cups (only fill 1/3 full) Then put in Fridge to set.
While the Jello is setting make your pudding according to directions then add 2 drops red food color.  You can use more but it will make the pudding darker.

Pour pudding on top of Jello and put in fridge to set.
Once the pudding is set put your whip cream & sprinkles on top.
Eat and Enjoy your Valentines Day Treat!

DIY Hairbow Holder

Last week on our We Made That Wednesday Linky Jessica at A Humble Creation shared her DIY Hairbow Holder and I was so excited.   This was the answer to my youngest daughters hairbow mess.  You see I love doing her hair and putting pretty bows and clips in it, but they were all over the place and I could never find matching pairs when I wanted to do pigtails.  Lets just say it was a disaster.

So when I saw Jessica's post I new this would solve all my hair-bow woes and give me something cute to put on my daughters wall!  So off I went to the store to get supplies.  You see Jessica came up with the idea because she broke the glass from a frame she had, I did not have a frame to use so I needed one.  And me being the cheap frugal girl I am, I did not want to spend much so I ended up buying a cheap five dollar frame from Walmart.  So I had to paint it since they only come in black and that would not have matched my daughters room.  But no big deal I don't mind painting things if it saves me money.

After all is said and done, I LOVE our new hairbow holder and it looks so pretty in my daughters room.  It makes getting her ready in the morning that much easier since all her bows are in one place and the matches are with them.  So I have to give a big shout out to Jessica, she is brilliant and really solved a big problem for me with her awesome creativeness.  She is also a great blogger with so many great ideas that I highly encourage every single one of you to head on over to A Humble Creation and check her out, and don't forget to follower her while you are there!

Supplies
Frame
Paint
Fabric to fit frame
Ribbon
Glue Gun
Hairbows

Directions
Paint your frame the color you want.
Cut your Fabric to fit the cardboard backing of your frame. Leave about 1/2 an inch extra fabric on each side.
Use your glue gun to glue your fabric to the cardboard.

Layout your ribbon in the shape you would like, then glue it down.
Put the cardboard backing back on your frame (without the glass!).  It is okay that the back is not painted and that you see the fabric and ribbon since it is the back and will be against the wall.
Now fill your new Hairbow holder with hairbows.
And then hang it on the wall.

Flower Lollipop Valentines

With Valentines Day fast approaching, I decided yesterday that we needed to get started on the 20+ valentines for my daughter to pass out to her friends at school.  So yesterday I got all the stuff together and we started making some Lollipop Valentines.  We only made a few yesterday but that is okay we can do a couple every day and then be done in plenty of time.

The last couple of years we decided it was more fun to make a special treat (last year we made Butterfly Lollipops) than to just buy them at the store.  Not to mention it is usually cheaper.  For this project you can get everything you need at the dollar store, which makes this a pretty cheap valentine for your kids.

And since my daughter is in Kindergarten this helps her with her writing since I will have her write a small note on each leaf (I did the first one in the picture to show her what to do).  I know when my daughter makes things to pass out she feels so proud and just enjoys the whole giving experience more.

you will need to help your younger kids a bit with this project since there is some cutting to do but they can do quite a bit of it them selves.

Do you prefer to receive homemade Valentines or do you prefer the store bought?

Supplies

Blow pops (or any lollipop you like)
Tissue Paper (we used red but you could also use pink)
Green Foam Paper

Directions

Each sheet of Tissue Paper will make 4 flowers.  So you will need to cut your sheet in to 4.
Start by folding your paper in half one way then fold it in half again the other way.  This should give you a square piece of tissue paper.
Cut your paper on the creases to get your 4 sheets.
Place your lollipop in the center of one square and fold the paper around the lollipop and then twist the paper around.  You can choose to cut off any extra paper if you want but you don't have too.
Next draw out a leaf shape on your foam paper.  Then you can have the kids trace the leaf  to make more.
Cut your leafs out and have your children write a message on the leafs.  Each flower will get three leafs so they can write three messages if you want.
Stick your your lollipop through one end of the leaf and push them up.  This will help to hold the paper in place.
Just do this how ever many times needed to get enough for the class.
